Flashback Friday: my favourite place

The only place where I can truly switch off and relax. The mountains are so cathartic for me. Before the kids came along, my year was centred around the two trips I got to make to the mountains with my snowboard. I love everything about it; the cold first thing in the morning, the crunch of the snow under foot and board, the totally exhilarating feeling of floating over fresh powder.

The peace when on a long chair lift, the silence broken by fellow boarders and skiers expressing their delight with screams as they carve their way down the mountain. At the end of the day ice cold beers and cheesy Euro pop make for wonderful nights out in pubs and bars packed with my fellow mountain lovers. The overwhelming ache the next morning in muscles you didn't know you had, but it doesn't matter as you head out the door for another amazing day on the slopes. Of course, being a total Geography geek makes being in the mountains much more fab;) My total love and awe of the mountains is in my blood. It will never leave me.

  1. That looks beautiful. I love the way you've described it all.
My husband wants to go skiing but I know we'd both be rubbish at it. Although our sons would probably love the snow.
    Thank you for linking up.

    1. I highly reccommend it. If you head to France they have brilliant ski schools:) I can't wait to be able to get back out there and get the boys going:)

  3. Looks lovely but not something I've ever fancied myself, I could never give up my typical summer holiday before. Now I live in Cyprus and can't wait to visit the mountains here in winter for some snow!

  4. firstly, thank you so much for linking up :)
I have only been skiing one several years ago now to Bulgaria, and I have to admit I did enjoy it far more than I thought I would. the snow was so crunchy and crisp as you describe and yet the sun shone brightly against the blue sky. I dont know if I could ever snow board though - you are a braver woman than me! x

    1. I skied for many years before trying the snowboard. It does take a while. I can't choose between them now, I'm less restricted if I ski, can go on more runs as I am more competent than on the board. If I could move to the mountains I would:)
